Nitrous oxide

Nitrous oxide (N2O) was discovered toward Sgr B2(M) and reported in 1994 by Ziurys et al. The observations were made with the 12 m telescope at Kitt Peak in Arizona. Further observations of N2O were reported by Halfen et al. in 2001.

Nitrous oxide is better known as laughing gas, which continues to be used for sedation, especially by dentists.
