When I recently added a category for Interstellar Objects on my page for molecular detections in different sources, I wondered if there was another category I could add ... to fill out the table. I've seen a lot of articles go recently by about "Little Red Dots" or LRDs that JWST has detected and thought I'd see if there had been any molecules detected in them, whatever they are. The Wikipedia article indicates that the "current leading theory is that the LRDs are a form of primordial galaxy." Or maybe they are "young supermassive black holes in dense ionized coccons." So maybe not prime places to find molecules? I did, however, find this article in Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society that reports "unambiguous G-band absoption originating from the CH molecule." Time will tell, I suppose... |
