Suggestion #001 (Oct 2005)

One of the things I do when I review a quantum chemistry paper for an astrophysics journal is to evaluate how well it will be understood by a non-specialist. If I can think of ways to improve clarity and storytelling, I include them in my review comments. Sometimes we need to explain basic lingo. We also need to be careful with symbols and abbreviations. Figures that are clear and eye-catching are also important. Thinking about the audience is a critical way to insure that a paper makes the deepest possible impact on the general astrochemistry community (which is just as true for talks as it is for papers).
